SMOKIN' ACES

If you are not offended by: chaos - murder - senseless cruelty - torture - vivisection - mutilation - sadism - flagellation - violence for the sake of violence - sexual debauchery ---> you will enjoy SMOKIN ACES. The film is a mix of elements from: The Usual Suspects - Pulp Fiction - Kill Bill - The Big Hit - Reservoir Dogs - The Replacement Killers - LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS. This is one of those movies with so much mayhem, that the violence numbs you and its impact is muted. Smokin Aces is not for everyone, as I have indicated, it appeals to our lesser instincts and promotes decadence, but for those who like this type of film, it is well above the norm, though it won't be on anyone's list alongside The Departed or Dreamgirls. THE MOVIE IS WELL CAST AND RAY LIOTTA - ANDY GARCIA - ALICA KEYES - JASON BATEMAN - BEN AFFLECK - JEREMY PREVIN AND COMMON ( THE MUSICIAN )DO GOOD WORK, WHILE WAITING FOR THEIR TURN TO KILL OR BE KILLED. THE NORMAL FIRST REACTION IS TO DISMISS THIS FILM OR LOOK DOWN ON IT FOR ITS GRAPHIC VIOLENCE, BUT JUST AS PEOPLE MISSED REALIZING THAT KILL BILL WAS A CHICK FLICK, MANY WILL MISS THE FACT THAT THIS WAS A VERY GOOD PICTURE IN THIS GENRE. PEOPLE WILL BE SHOT OVER AND OVER AND NEVER DIE. WEAPONS WILL APPEAR OUT OF THIN AIR. THE POLICE WILL NEVER ARRIVE AT THE SCENE OF MAJOR AND MASSIVE CARNAGE, UNTIL ALL THE SUSPECTS HAVE EXITED THE SCENE, NO MATTER HOW LONG THE BATTLE TOOK. LIFE WILL GO ON AS USUAL, JUST STEPS AWAY FROM MACHINE GUN FIRE, FAR GREATER THAN FACED BY TOM HANKS ON THE BEACH AT NORMANDY, IN SAVING PRIVATE RYAN. THESE ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR THIS GENRE AND WITHIN THESE GUIDELINES, SMOKIN ACES IS NOT BAD - IF THESE PROTOCOLS SEEM TOO OUTRAGEOUS FOR YOU -- AVOID SMOKIN ACES LIKE THE PLAGUE. ***************************************************** I STOLE MY OWN OPENING LINES FOR THIS REACTION FROM MY REACTION TO APOCALYPTO. I WRITE A BRIEF REVIEW FOR THE GREENVILLE NEWSPAPER ON FRIDAYS, IN THEIR WEEKEND ENTERTAINMENT SECTION. I DID NOT HAVE THE SPACE TO USE THIS OPENING IN MY NEWSPAPER COLUMN ABOUT THE MAYAN EPIC, SO I MADE ROOM FOR IT IN THIS SMOKIN ACES ITEM FOR THE PAPER THIS WEEK. CAN YOU PLAGIARIZE YOURSELF?
