This film has some good moments, but failed to capture the magic of
"SOMETHING ABOUT MARY."
It actually had a much better premise, but lost its focus off and on over the unnecessarily long two hours of running time. This was a movie that really needed to be as brief as possible.
Spike Lee has a saying -- "I got it, I got it and I am gone."
We "got it" early on and then the film just became hit and miss - not sure of where it wanted to take us.
The final scene is really very negative -- the message is that some folks never learn and are hopelessly selfish; not exactly the humorous note you want to leave the theatre on, after
seeing a romantic comedy.
YOU COULD WAIT FOR THIS TO COME ON TELEVISION AND EVEN THEN, THERE IS NO BIG RUSH TO SEE IT - IF YOU SKIP IT, YOUR LIFE WILL NOT BE DIMINISHED IN THE LEAST .
