I AM LEGEND

Will Smith is a cash machine. He is more dependable than any A.T.M. ever made.
So, the idea that his new movie, I AM LEGEND, is a success can be taken for granted
.Don't miss it, but it is not for kids, much too intense.
*Salli Richardson, still looks great. A younger Pam Grier type.
*After casting his son in HAPPYNESS, he has featured his daughter in this film - that is being a good father.
* The scenes of New York City, after the apocalypse are worth the price of admission.

My friend, D.L.B., a native of Brooklyn, said that the city has suffered enough since
September 11th and he does not need to see the city in ruins in a fictional tale - once was enough with the actual ground zero destruction.
He makes a good point, but I guess, no city holds the natural drama of a New York location.
*The idea of making the mutants into computer enhanced super creatures does not work in this film - it was a major error in judgment. I felt it appropriate in BEOWULF, but not in this contemporary / realistic tale.
*The film hits many emotional levels - you will laugh and cry with Will Smith's character, as he tries to deal with a world that, TO HIS KNOWLEDGE, has no other healthy citizens.

THIS IS BASICALLY A REMAKE OF CHARLTON HESTON'S 1971 - OMEGA MAN, IT ALSO CALLS TO MIND, HARRY BELAFONTE IN THE 1959 FILM - THE WORLD, THE FLESH AND THE DEVIL AND GREGORY PECK IN ON THE BEACH, ALSO MADE IN 1959.

I didn't like I Am Legend. Why does Will Smith find the need, as in I, Robot, to show the American public that he works out???

I liked the premise of the movie, and most of the action was good, although heavy on the computer-generated zombies...at the end, the story was anti-climatic.

Will's character, like Moses, didn't live to see the Promised Land--the disease-free compound.

WILL HAS A TOP NOTCH PHYSIQUE - LET HIM SHOW IT OFF -HE WON'T BE YOUNG AND STRONG FOREVER.
I AGREE, THE LET DOWN CAME IN THE LAST QUARTER OF THE FILM. THERE WAS NO REASON TO MAKE THE ZOMBIES SUPER STRONG.
THE FACT THAT WILL DIES GAVE THE STORY SOME CREDIBILITY - HE WAS OVERDUE TO DIE AND WITH ALL THAT HE HAD EXPERIENCED, DEATH WAS NOT SUCH A HORRORIBLE FATE - IT WAS A WELCOME RELIEF.
