JUNO - A TEENAGE STORY FOR SENIOR CITIZENS

JUNO IS NOT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE.

I DON'T MEAN IT IS GROSS OR RAW, THOUGH IT IS AT TIMES.

I MEAN THAT THIS FILM CAN ONLY BE TRULY APPRECIATED BY ADULTS OVER THE AGE OF 30.

IT IS BEING MARKETED AS A TEENAGE STORY, WITH TEENAGE CHARACTERS, BUT IT IS A STORY ABOUT MAKING LIFE CHANGING CHOICES AND DECISIONS.

THE OLDER THE VIEWER, THE DEEPER THE MEANING AND EMOTIONAL IMPACT OF THIS FILM WILL BE FELT. THOSE OF US WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THESE IMPORTANT MOMENTS, WILL HAVE EMPATHY FOR THE CHARACTERS IN THIS MOVIE.

THERE IS A SCENE IN, MISTER HOLLAND'S OPUS, WHERE A YOUNG HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT SINGS, SOMEONE TO WATCH OVER ME. THOSE IN ATTENDANCE AT THE AUDITION APPLAUD.

THE BAND / MUSIC DIRECTOR, MISTER HOLLAND, TELLS THE GIRL THAT YOU DON'T SING THAT SONG WITH YOUR VOICE - YOU SING IT WITH YOUR SOUL -- SOMEONE WHO HAS NOT SUFFERED THE JOY AND DESPAIR OF LOVE, CAN'T DO JUSTICE TO THOSE LYRICS.

I FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THIS WONDERFUL FILM - YOU HAVE TO HAVE WALKED A FEW MILES IN THE SHOES OF THESE CHARACTERS TO KNOW HOW IMPORTANT THEIR ACTIONS WILL BE IN SHAPING THE YEARS AHEAD.

I AM NOT JOKING WHEN I SAY, EVERY SENIOR CITIZEN SHOULD SEE THIS MOVIE, THE SENIOR CENTERS SHOULD BRING FOLKS BY THE BUS LOAD, FOR THEY WILL UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NOT A COMEDY - THIS IS ABOUT THE MEANING OF LIFE AND HOW MUCH WE INFLUENCE THE DIRECTION OF OUR LIVES BY HOW WE VIEW OUR STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES.

SOMEONE WILL GO TO SEE THIS MOVIE AND SAY IT WAS NOT GOOD -- I LIVE IN FEAR OF SHARING A SMALL SPACE WITH THAT PERSON.

I don’t usually comment on critiques of movies because I could care less. If it sounds like I might like the movie or it has redeeming qualities to me I’ll see it critique or not .As soon as I heard of this Juno, I had a distinct reaction. Tell me if I’m wrong. Young white cute girl gets knocked up by shy sweet unaware young man. She decides to keep kid and give to “crazy couple who want but can’t have kids/ All the critics, you included think it’s the delightful coming of age film with so many more positive qualities than not .Let’s flip the script. Young, cute black girl gets knocked up, by shy sweet young black man…ya da ya da.. Would you have found it so deep and profound with that scenario/ I guess it’s all open for interpretation. But this senior citizen could care less about finding the meaning of life in some trite Hollywood script, don

… Living life gives meaning to life, not going to some movie that has little or no relevance to real life vs reel life
