Casting Robert Downey, Jr. as a super hero was inspired. He does not fit the mold and that is perfectly logical, since his character never planned to be a super hero.
Jon Favreau directed this film, that is a plus. The script is excellent and with Gwyneth Paltrow, Jeff Bridges and the great Terrence Howard in supporting roles - this is a winner.
I took Frankie Thomas and Steven Adams of Bell's Crossing School along, to get a more youthful opinion on this film - our vote was unanimous.
Warning, the first ten minutes are very intense - there is a Saving Private Ryan level battle scene and that means blood and death come without any pause.
This film is special because it can go from giant special effects to warm personal
moments and pull off both scenes equally well.
