CADILLAC RECORDS

Cadillac Records is worth seeing for the value of the history lesson it provides.
This film suffers from uneven writing and lackluster direction.
Jeffrey Wright is a star of the first magnitude and few people have heard of him. He low keys his role as Muddy Waters and he is not asked to do all he could, his part is underwritten.
Eamonn Walker's role as blues singer, Howlin’ Wolf, should move him up the ladder in Hollywood.
Gabrielle Union is good as the faithful companion of Mr. Waters.
Mos Def is always wonderful.
UNFORTUNATELY, CEDRIC THE ENTERTAINER, IS JUST IN THE FILM LONG ENOUGH FOR A CUP OF COFFEE.
Beyonce’s part, as ETTA JAMES, is over dramatized and does not ring true, the same with Adrien Brody’s character – too stagey / artificial.
The language is too strong for young people. This movie about soul music, lacks the necessary degree of soul.

I WOULD SUGGEST YOU OVERLOOK THE FLAWS IN PACING AND STAGING AND SEE IT FOR THE HISTORICAL INFORMATION YOU WILL EXPERIENCE.
