DUPLICITY

Tony Gilroy wrote and directed “Duplicity.”

Gilroy helped bring the great “Jason Bourne” and “Michael Clayton” films to the big screen.

“Duplicity” has fabulous production values – the sets, locations, fashion statements, cast and camera work are first class.
CLIVE OWEN IS GOOD AND JULIA ROBERTS IS VERY CLOSE TO HAVING TO GIVE UP
THESE FEMME FATALE ROLES.

Unfortunately, what it does not have overshadows all the positives; there is no hero, there is nothing and no one to root for in the tale.

The script is cute –– the dialogue is cute - the whole picture is cute.
There is nothing at risk or worth winning in this story – you sit there and watch without caring – that is the classic blueprint for a failed movie.
The story required no emotional investment and thus, pays no emotional dividend when the two hour cruise to nowhere is complete
