RANGO

"RANGO" is new territory for me, normally I note that an
animated feature is too childish for adults, not this time. The makers of this film have put in action features that will please the kids, along with ideas and situations that will hold the attention of the mature viewers.
There are literary and film references that only those over age 21 will appreciate.
Yet, the action sequences will hold the attention of the young, who won't fully understand
what is being said in the dialogue.
The problem I have with this film is that it is trying to be all things to all people.
It seems contrived to reach every demographic and the focus wanders
all over the place and you don't really know what it is about. It could have been
shorter and thus, better.

JOHNNY DEPP IS THE LEAD CHARACTER AND CONTINUES HIS CRUSADE TO BE THE
NEW MARLON BRANDO, AN ACTOR WHO CAN PLAY ANY ROLE.

THE PRODUCTION IS FIRST RATE, BUT STILL LACKS THE SOUL OF AN ANIMATED
FEATURE LIKE "UP" OR "HOW I TRAINED MY DRAGON."
