I almost made the mistake of dismissing "BRIDESMAIDS" as a chick flick.
This is a very well written, very serious drama about romance, loneliness, stress and borderline mental illness in modern society.
The idea that there are hilarious moments in this tale of giving birth to a wedding is a tribute to the excellent, Academy Award worthy screenplay.
This is a very dark film, you will laugh as you watch it, but you will realize the depth of the negative elements as you head home.
Love is just around the corner from a life of sorrow and hopelessness.
The characters in this story are not the usual Hollywood "beautiful people," they are just folks, they are us and that makes their plight even more emotionally powerful.

THE CAST WAS JUST WONDERFUL: MELISSA McCARTHY WAS GREAT AS THE
SISTER OF THE GROOM AND CHRIS O'DOWD WAS EXCELLENT AS THE COP WITH
A ROMANTIC VIEW OF LIFE. ACTUALLY, THE ENTIRE CAST WAS SUPER, THEY ALL
RANG TRUE TO THE ROLES.
ONCE AGAIN, THIS FILM SHOWS HOW THIN THE LINE CAN BE BETWEEN A LIFE OF
SORROW AND A LIFE WITH THE NORMAL UPS AND DOWNS.
Warning - no shortage of vulgar language.
