THE RITE

This film was off to a great start, the first 40 minutes were
brilliant. They set the stage for a great story, they raised the
issues everyone in the theater would have asked and they gave
reasonable answers to these questions.
Then, the movie became possessed by cinematic demons.
Giant size holes in logic began to appear and the talents of
Anthony Hopkins, Rutger Hauer, and Ciaran Hinds were unable to get this film back to the high level it started on.
Special effects is a poor substitute for good story telling.
"The Rite" turns out wrong in the end.

George Gaffney - Simpsonville
